Making A Purchase
Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our store, and add any items that you wish to buy into the shopping basket. If you wish your item to be gift wrapped, simply select the giftwrap option and you will be asked to input a few details including your greeting for the gift card. After you have finished your selection, click on 'Checkout' and you will be asked for any info that we need to be able to complete the order. Our easy to follow delivery schedule is always on view so you can see our delivery costs at a glance while browsing our products.
We accept payment by Paypal and most debit and credit card payments (not AMEX). If you are shopping from outside the UK and using a card that has not been issued by a UK provider, then place your order and pay in GBP and your credit card company will convert the transaction to your own currency which will show on your statement. (Exchange rates and any fees, if applicable, will vary per card)
If you pay by Paypal e-cheque these can take 5-7 days to clear and items will not be shipped until payment has cleared.
When confirmation of order is received, this is to indicate that we have received your order. It does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your order, and hence a contract between us, when we confirm that your item is still in stock and has been dispatched and we send you an invoice. We have included this term to protect us in the case that a mistake has been made in pricing, or we are no longer able to supply a particular product for some reason. In the case of a change of price, we will always contact you first to ensure that the price is acceptable.
All sizes quoted are approximate, all references to times are GMT and prices are GBP.
Shipping and Handling
UK Delivery - All our items are sent Standard First Class delivery by Royal Mail or courier for larger items (1-3 working days) and our delivery charges for this apply to UK mainland only. See our rates at the time of purchase. Items to be delivered outside these areas may take longer for delivery and may incur additional charges, for which we would inform you. Please allow extra time at seasonal peaks such as Christmas or some areas.
We also offer Guaranteed Next Day Delivery to Mainland UK (Mon-Thurs) for orders received before 1pm or sooner if stated on the product page. (Excludes Bank Hols - see our Delivery Schedule section below for more details).
Dispatch times may vary on some items, such as Personalised Gifts, but it will tell you this on the product page.
Items to non-residential addresses may be sent recorded delivery as may be items of high value.
Items are delivered to an address and not a person, for example an item delivered to a business address is deemed as delivered. It then becomes the responsibility of the post room there.
Rep of Ireland & Europe - Items sent outside UK are sent by Airmail International Signed For service (3-5 working days), as this service reduces the risk of items being lost in transit as items are signed for at the final destination. The delivery times are approximate as we cannot guarantee the postal service in other countries and we recommend you allow as much time as possible. Free delivery items are sent standard Airmail (no signature).
Not all items are available for shipping to EU but it wil be stated on the product page.
BFPO - All items to BFPO and EU addresses may be checked by Customs. We cannot be held responsible for any damage if your item, particularly with giftwrap, is opened by customs.
Discounts - Any discounts offered are on the order value excluding P&P charges.
UK Delivery - Orders received by 1pm are dispatched the same day and delivered by Royal Mail First Class post - unless otherwise stated on the product page. While most items get there the next day, please allow 1-3 working days for the delivery and sometimes longer during peak seasons such as Christmas and we recommend that you order your gift up to 3 working days in advance of the occasion, in order not to disappoint the recipient. Applicable giftwrapped parcels will include a sticker stating 'Do Not Open Until......' and will have the date of the birthday etc on it, so you can send gifts in plenty of time ready for the event. These delivery times are NOT guaranteed and we cannot be held responsible if delivery takes longer, but we do offer a guaranteed service.
Orders placed after 1pm will be processed and dispatched the next working day and delivered by Royal Mail.
Orders placed after 1pm Friday, or placed Saturday or Sunday will be processed and dispatched on the Monday (except for Bank Holidays) and delivered by Royal Mail.
We do not ship out on Public/Bank Holidays or Weekends, when Royal Mail is closed.
For large/heavy items or multiple items to the same address, we may use a courier service, where a signature is required.
For any last minute presents we offer a Guaranteed Next Day Delivery service. If we receive your order prior to 1pm on a Monday to Thursday, your gift will be delivered the next day (excl Bank Hols), usually by 1pm. Next day guaranteed delivery requires a signature upon receipt, however a card will be left if the recipient is out. Please note that Royal Mail does not guarantee delivery on Saturdays and therefore orders placed before 1pm on a Friday, for next day delivery will be guaranteed to arrive on the following Monday (excl Bank Hols). Orders placed after 1pm on Friday will be dispatched Monday for guaranteed Tuesday delivery. If you wish for a Saturday delivery you can select Saturday service and pay the surcharged cost - this is not available on some products.
Please note some larger/heavier items are sent by courier for Next Day delivery and the cut-off times are earlier than 1pm, but this will be stated on the product page. Also, if you place a large order with multiple items, the cut off time is 12pm as this will go by courier, we will contact you if there are any problems or please call to confirm.
Please note that dispatch/delivery times may vary on some items, such as Personalised Gifts, but this will also be posted on the Product page.
We will do our utmost to ensure that your gift is received on time. However, in circumstances beyond our control such as Royal Mail or Courier delays, postal strikes or force majeure we are unable to be held liable for the delay.
We will also make delivery notes on parcels at your request, but cannot guarantee they will be noted by the delivery company. If you have asked us to put a note on your parcel to leave it somewhere, you do so at your own risk as we cannot accept responsibility for non-delivery in these circumstances.
Please allow extra time during seasonal peaks such as Christmas, Valentines, Fathers Day, Mothers day etc there may be a small delay in the dispatch of your orders, but we will always keep you updated and increase our dispatch system to reduce the risk of this occuring. There may also be a delay in the delivery, particularly at Christmas time as Royal Mail deals with the extra volume of seasonal deliveries. We will advertise last posting days for Christmas on our Delivery Page.
Non Delivered Goods - If you choose standard delivery and do not receive an item that we have posted, then we reserve the right to ask you to wait 15 working days before we re-dispatch the item or refund you (25 days for Europe), as Royal Mail will not classify a parcel as being lost before this waiting period as it could still turn up. However, we will do our utmost to rectify any problems as swiftly as possible. We offer a Guaranteed service and if this is lost in transit we will re-send or refund straight away, unless the item has been carded in which case the recipient must re-arrange delivery within 5 days.
Please note that we will charge for any costs incurred and/or re-delivery costs of any items that are returned to us due to an insufficient address or because they were not collected or a re-delivery was not arranged by the recipient on receipt of a card from the courier or Royal Mail, within 5 days or any other time period specified on the card. As your delivery charges are subsidised, please note that redelivery costs may be higher as we will charge the actual cost for a re-send. Please also ensure your recipient is not on holiday before sending and that you give us the correct delivery address, including postcode, as we cannot be held responsible for items that go astray due to wrong information given to us.

We will do our utmost to ensure that your gift is received on time. However, in circumstances beyond our control such as postal strikes or force majeure we are unable to be held liable for the delay.
Please allow extra time, if possible during seasonal peak times such as Christmas, Valentines, Fathers Day, Mothers day etc.

We cannot put notes on your parcel to leave it somewhere as a signature is required, however you can ask for it to be left with a neighbour who can sign for it, but we cannot guarantee the delivery service will adhere to this.
We also reserve the right to charge for re-delivery if the item was not collected or if a re-delivery was not arranged by the recipient on receipt of a card from the courier or local postal service.
We require FULL address details for overseas deliveries in order to avoid any losses or delays as we cannot be held responsible for incomplete information given to us.

If an item is out of stock, please feel free to email us if you wish to be notified when it comes back in stock. Our stock levels are updated at least twice daily and we do our best to ensure that items are not available to buy if we are out of stock. However, there maybe the occasional crossover point on a popular product, but we would let you know as soon as possible and if applicable, a refund would be arranged the same day.
At this moment in time, VAT is not charged on any orders, but this may become applicable in the future.
Credit Card Security
Credit card security is of great importance to us and you can rest assured that your card details are not stored on our computers or held in clear text on this web site. When your order is placed at our website, you are then taken to Sagepay or PayPal secure encrypted website, before entering your payment details. Our payment providers are well known and have been dealing with secure payments for years and comply with regulations.
Look out for the security padlock in your browser (usually bottom right or top right of your screen), whenever you are inputting payments details on any website, not just ours.
We guarantee to do our best to ensure your satisfaction and aim to respond to any emails or other communication from you as quickly as possible, but no later than the next working day.

Your privacy is important to us and Post a Present do not disclose or sell buyers' information to third parties other than as part of the order fulfilment i.e to the carrier shipping the goods. In this case, the third party will not disclose any of the details to any other third party.
Anonymity - The sender's name is usually included in the return address on all parcels, so if you are sending a 'surprise' gift and want to remain anonymous (perhaps for Valentine's Day) you need to specify this on the additional info box during the checkout process.

We conform with the requirements of the Data Protection Act, 1998 and do not send random marketing emails to personal email addresses (spam). Anyone who has opted to receive our monthly Newsletter has the option to unsubscribe at any time and will be removed from our mailing lists.
Damaged Items - All our items are checked and well packaged before dispatch. However, in the unfortunate event that they arrive damaged in the post, please notify us within 3 working days from receipt (as we have time limits on notifying the carrier) and we shall replace the item. Please retain the item and any damaged packaging, as we may require this in order to make a claim to the carrier and we reserve the right to ask for the damaged item to be returned at our expense. If we do not have the same item in stock, then we shall offer an alternative item of the same value, a credit voucher for future use or a full refund (incl P&P).
Faulty Items - If your item is faulty, please notify us within 14 days and we shall arrange a replacement. If we do not have the same item in stock, then we shall offer an alternative item of the same value, a credit voucher for future use or a full refund (incl P&P).
Changed your Mind? - If you wish to return any item, other than it is damaged or faulty, please return it within 14 days from receipt. The item must be returned unused in it's original packaging and in a saleable condition. We recommend that you send the item recorded delivery and ensure it is well packaged, as we cannot be held responsible for non receipt of goods or items received broken. Once we have received your goods in a satisfactory condition as stated above, we shall refund you less any original postage and packaging and giftwrap costs, if applicable, within 14 days. We do not charge a handling or re-stocking fee. If you qualified for free delivery when placing your order, a postage and packing charge of £1.25 per item will be levied on unwanted items and deducted from any refund given. The following items cannot be returned:
Jewellery sets with earrings for hygiene reasons
Perishable goods such as food and chocolates.
CDs/DVDs cannot be returned if the cellophane wrap is removed or seal broken.
Items Shipped Direct to Recipient - For customers who are sending presents direct to a third party, rest assured that each parcel will include a card asking them to contact us within a time frame should their item arrive damaged or faulty and we shall do our best to resolve the matter as smoothly as possible and at no cost to them. Customer satisfaction is of importance to us. Any time frames given start from the date of the occasion given on the order, when the item is usually opened.
Items Returned to Sender - If your gift is returned to us because the recipient did not re-arrange delivery after being left a 'While you were out...' card, we will advise you by email. You can choose to have it re-sent and we will advise you of the delivery cost to do so. If you do not wish to have it re-sent we will offer you a credit voucher against future purchases. This will be for the value of the goods less delivery and giftwrap (if appl) charges, as we have fulfilled our contract of sale and cannot be held responsible for recipient's non-action. However, please note that we will not accept some items back into stock as listed under section 'Changed your Mind' above, but we will be happy to re-send these.
Faults & Returns Outside our Terms - If you report a faulty item or a return outside our terms and conditions and we agree to accept it, then please note that we will only offer you a credit voucher to the value of the item, less original postage/giftwrap, to spend on our site at a future date.
